NFP (Non-Farm Payrolls) (รายงานการจ้างงานนอกภาคเกษตร)

NFP is the monthly US jobs report showing how many jobs were added or lost outside the farm sector. It is usually released on the first Friday of the month.

NFP (Non-Farm Payrolls) is a monthly report from the US Bureau of Labor Statistics. It shows how many paid jobs the US economy added or lost in the previous month, not counting farm workers and a few other groups.

It is normally released on the first Friday of the month at 8:30 a.m. New York time. That is 19:30 or 20:30 in Thailand and Laos, depending on US daylight saving time. Sometimes the date moves because of holidays, so check an economic calendar.

The same report also includes the unemployment rate and average hourly earnings. Traders watch these too.

Simple example

Suppose economists forecast +180,000 jobs, and the report shows +250,000. The result is stronger than expected. This may affect the US dollar, gold and stock prices, because jobs data can change what people expect from US interest rates. The reaction is not guaranteed, and the market can move one way and then reverse.

Why it matters

NFP is one of the most closely watched news events in the market. Prices can move quickly in the first minutes after the release.

Common beginner mistake

Many beginners open a trade just before or at the release, hoping to guess the result. At that moment spreads can widen and orders can fill at worse prices (slippage). Past monthly numbers are also often revised later. Know when NFP is coming and decide in advance how to manage risk, for example by using a Stop Loss or by staying out of the market.
