Lot size calculator
Decide how much you are willing to lose if price hits your stop loss, and the calculator works out a lot size that keeps you within it.
Most beginners risk 1–2% of their balance per trade.
Pairs quoted in USD, such as EURUSD, GBPUSD and AUDUSD, are $10. For others, such as USDJPY or gold, it depends on price and your broker's contract specs, so check your platform.

How it is calculated
Lots = (balance × risk %) ÷ (stop-loss pips × pip value per lot)
Example: a $1,000 balance at 1% risk means you accept losing $10. With a 20-pip stop on EURUSD you lose $200 per lot, so you open 10 ÷ 200 = 0.05 lots.
