EA (Expert Advisor) (เอ็กซ์เพิร์ต แอดไวเซอร์ / บอทเทรด)
An EA (Expert Advisor) is a program that runs inside MetaTrader and can analyse charts and place, manage or close trades automatically by fixed rules.
An EA (Expert Advisor) is a small program that runs inside the MetaTrader 4 or MetaTrader 5 platform. It follows rules written in code. It can read price data, check conditions, and then open, modify or close trades without you clicking each time. You attach it to a chart, and it works on that symbol and timeframe.
A simple example
Imagine this rule:
- If the price closes above the 50-period moving average on EURUSD, buy 0.01 Lot.
- Set a Stop Loss 30 pips below the entry.
- Set a Take Profit 60 pips above the entry.
The EA checks this rule again and again and acts whenever it is met. On a typical USD account, 0.01 Lot of EURUSD is worth about $0.10 per pip. So the 30-pip Stop Loss risks about $3, and the 60-pip target aims for about $6.
Why it matters
An EA removes some emotion and can follow a plan consistently. It also needs the platform to stay running, so many people use a computer that stays on or a VPS.
Common beginner mistakes
- Thinking an EA guarantees profit. It only does what its rules say. If the rules are weak, it will lose automatically.
- Using it live without testing. Try it on a demo account first. Past results from the Strategy Tester do not guarantee future results.
- Trusting unrealistic claims. Be careful with any EA that promises easy or risk-free returns.
- Ignoring risk settings. Always check Lot size and Stop Loss.
